OKAPI is an interactive musical performance for the very youngest, an ever-changing and twisting landscape sculpted from sound, movement and clay.
For their latest creation, Sound Nest drew inspiration from early Baroque music, the sound, texture, and endless possibilities of clay. Sounds and visual aspects are formed by unique clay sculptures created especially for this performance. They serve as landmarks in a landscape of natural clay that, through playful manipulation by both performers and audience, constantly changes in sound and appearance. The stage, shaped like a lemniscate, supports this idea of infinite transformation: sound and movement flow without boundaries, like an echo of the endless way of playing and discovering.
Just like the animal—graceful and playful, familiar and mysterious—the performance builds a bridge between worlds: OKAPI takes the audience on a journey through old and new music, familiar and innovative instruments, structure and freedom... An invitation to play and explore endlessly.
