OKAPI

For their latest creation for the very youngest, Sound Nest drew inspiration from Flemish polyphony, early Baroque music, and the sound, texture, and endless play possibilities of clay. Sounds are shaped by unique clay sculptures created by artist Gemma Luz Bosch at the request of Klankennest for this performance. They serve as landmarks in a landscape of natural clay that, through playful manipulation by both performers and audience, constantly changes in sound and appearance.

Just like the animal – graceful and playful, familiar and mysterious – OKAPI takes the audience on a journey through contrasting worlds of old and new music, familiar and innovative instruments, structure and freedom… an invitation to play and explore endlessly.
